Textures Series

This series was created using physical textures made in my studio—some from cut paper, others from acrylic and watercolor abstract studies intended for larger paintings. When I find myself in an artistic rut, I turn to abstract mark-making. Letting go of the pressure to create recognizable objects or creatures allows me to freely explore shape and color on paper.

 I scan these textures and later use them in digital collages. Many of the finished pieces begin as sketches—sometimes years old—that I’ve loved but struggled to place in the right medium until now.
